Nephrology is the most recent addition to the superspeciality services offered by Sigma hospital. After the initial humble beginnings with hemodialysis facilities, the department has grown leaps and bounds within a short span of time to start the renal transplant programme. Currently we are one of the very few hospitals offering kidney transplant facilities in Mysore with an in-house dedicated transplant team. We perform live related ABO compatible as well as ABO incompatible transplants, along with cadaveric kidney transplants.
Our dialysis unit manned is by dedicated staff and runs for 24 hours, performing more than 500 dialysis a month. Frequent quality checks are mandated as per the prevalent guidelines and efforts are made to provide high quality dialysis. We also perform plasmapharesis for both nephrology and non-nephrology indications. Ultrasound guided percutaneous kidney biopsy including allograft biopsies are performed as daycare procedures minimising the hospital stay. Dialysis access creation including tunneled catheter placement ( Perm cath) are also offered as day care procedures.
